About Me

Ever since I was young boy I always knew I wanted to help others and I knew I didn’t want to be a cop, firefighter, or even a social worker. I knew coming from a lower middle class family that college was a long stretch so I knew I had to rely on the abilities that God gave me. Going up in Plant City, Florida I knew that I had to fight for everything I needed and wanted. My mom raised me as a single parent. She was very hard on me growing up and I knew that in order for me to get ahead in life I had to listen to her no matter what. My older brother Markus played the father role in my life after my grandfather passed in 2000 and helped me mature into the responsible man I am today.

While in high school I found myself doing very well academically but athletically I was doing even better. Going into my senior year or college I had several offers to play sports on the collegiate level.  With that chance to further my education I accepted the offer to attended Michigan State University (MSU) on and athlete scholarship.

I found my passion to teach while doing my internship at Letts Community Center.  This community center is located in the urban area of Lansing and was filled with youth I could relate solely in every aspect. I was their tutor for after school and I enjoyed every second of it. After a full semester of tutoring, mentoring, and teaching those kids I was renewed with the passion to work and help others.

After graduating I knew it was me destiny to work with teens and that’s exactly what I did. I went to work at Sunny Crest Youth Ranch in Sunfield, MI., working with teens twelve to eighteen who have been abused and neglected. After working there for a few months I wanted to further my education so I applied to the MAED Program. After this journey I have made the choice to peruse my teaching certification so I can become a full time teacher.

Other than school, I spend a majority of my time with my family and friends. My family and friends have supported me through my journey through my undergraduate degree and my masters program. Without them I feel as if I wouldn’t have made it through as quickly and smoothly as I did. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my fiancé, my son, traveling, reading and playing video games. The things that I have gone through have molded me into the man I am today.
